Merry Christmas from Way Creative LLC!

Red, Green, and Blue Christmas Bells with text Jingle all the Way

During the hectic holiday season, we want to pause for a minute to wish you a very Merry Christmas! It has been a busy, fun 2017, and we are excited for the New Year.

Christmas Holiday Hours

We will have limited business hours from December 23, 2017 through January 1, 2018. We’ll be taking some time off to celebrate and spend time with our families, friends, and each other! We’re also looking ahead and planning for what’s to come in 2018. You can still contact us via email and on our website, and we’ll respond as soon as we’re able!

It’s Been a Great 2017!

We’ve had the opportunity to work with some inspiring organizations and dear friends this year, and we couldn’t be more grateful. From uniting for Grand Rapids Public Schools through the Grand Rapids Student Advancement Foundation, to promoting the awesome shows, casts, and crews at Circle Theatre, to recapping amazing events by The Midwest Tech Project that expose students to the tech field, to seeing the role that music plays in student’s lives in the Notre Dame Children’s Choir, it is truly our honor to help share the stories that shape our communities. We love the work that these and other organizations in Grand Rapids are doing to make a difference in people’s lives.

We appreciate you!

Thank you to our amazing clients and business partners for working with us in 2017. We also have to give a huge shout-out to our friends and families for their support and referrals as we continue to build our small business. We appreciate you all, and couldn’t do this without you!

Wishing you all a very happy holiday season and the best in 2018,

Julie Way & Kyle Way

Hear, Sing, and Play: Working with the Notre Dame Children’s Choir

Notre Dame Children's Choir Community Festival Smiling Kids

Over the past year, we’ve had the opportunity to work with the Notre Dame Children’s Choir to record their public performances. It’s so much fun to see how each of the choirs develop through the school year, and to listen to the new skills that they have learned during the Community Festival at the conclusion of the season.

“Doing music just makes me feel…happy!” declares Zach, a fellow member of the NDCC Chamber Choir.

“We do a lot of singing, but it’s not all singing. We do work with dynamics, and different types of keys, and learning to read the music,” says Elena, a member of the NDCC Chamber Choir.

Notre Dame Children’s Choir Community Festival: Faith Around the World

The NDCC is now 5 years old with over 300 children participating in after-school programs where they hear, sing, and play sacred music. The programs are free of charge for families in the Michiana region. Each year, the Community Festival brings together the NDCC and young singers from throughout the area for a weekend of learning and singing together. This year’s Festival was entitled Faith Around the World, and featured sacred music in several languages.

Sacred Music Academy at The University of Notre Dame

The Notre Dame Children’s Choir (NDCC) is a part of the Sacred Music Academy, the community engagement program of Sacred Music at Notre Dame (SMND).  The NDCC is such a cool partnership because it provides a unique experience for the young students in the Children’s Choirs to learn about music as they are mentored by adult students in the SMND program.

“Working with the Children’s Choir is really important for the students here because music only matters at the community level…[when music is used] as a way to build bonds between people,” says Victoria, an SMND student and director of the NDCC Descant Choir.

“Our hope is by starting young, with kids as young as 5 and 6, that in 10 or 20 years they will become the future choristers in our communities and in our churches,” says Mark Doerries, Artistic Director the Notre Dame Children’s Choir.

“They’ve helped me sing. I never knew that I had this voice in me, and they helped me get it out,” shares Salomon, a member of the NDCC Seraphim Choir.

the g code gala: celebrating the midwest tech project

Tech professionals mingle at the G Code Gala.

The Midwest Tech Project celebrated the first year of their work at the G Code Gala on February 23, 2017. The event was held at the Grand Rapids Art Museum. The community was updated on the Midwest Tech Project’s achievements over the past year, and gave an overview of new initiatives coming in 2017. It was a fun event, and was a great opportunity for networking, mingling, and learning more about the technology industry in West Michigan.

The G Code Gala

We had the opportunity to produce a recap video of the G Code Gala. The video features words from AJ Hills IV and Jonathan Jelks, MidWest Tech Project Co-founders. Hills and Jelks speak on the past and future endeavors of the  Midwest Tech Project. You’ll also hear from sponsors and supporters of the organization, including Joe Jones, 2nd Ward City Commissioner, Mike Morin of Start Garden, Brittany Hunter of Atomic Object, and Jennifer Cline and John Rumery of Grand Circus.

The Midwest Tech Project focuses on connecting Black and Latino students to STEM education and the technology industry. The goal is to help students create lifelong career opportunities. The organization is one of our newer clients, and we are so proud to partner with them and help support the work that they’re doing in our community. We are committed to their ideals of supporting the students in our city, encouraging interest in the STEM fields, and most importantly, diversifying the tech industry in Grand Rapids and beyond.

You can help support the work of the Midwest Tech Project in a number of ways:

  • Become a strategic partner
  • Host students for a tour if you work in the technology industry
  • Become a mentor

Learn more and connect with the Midwest Tech Project on their website and Facebook page.

It’s our passion to use our technology skills to serve our community and support organizations working for good. Is your nonprofit looking for video and media services to help support your work and mission in our community? Contact us today to get started!

Notre Dame Children’s Choir: Candlemas

A lighted candle during the Candlemas concert.

On February 2, during the celebration of Candlemas, we had the honor of recording the Notre Dame Children’s Choir’s Evening Prayer for the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. The performance, held at the beautiful Church of Our Lady Loretto at Saint Mary’s College, featured Sister M. Veronique (Wiedower), C.S.C, Presiding, and Daniel Justin, Composer of Liturgical Music.

The Notre Dame Children’s Choir is a part of the Sacred Music Academy, the community engagement program through Sacred Music at Notre Dame. The NDCC has choirs for children from birth to high school, and believes that all children can learn to sing and read music. See a list of their upcoming performances and events on their website, or watch videos from other recent performances on our Vimeo channel.
